Welcome to the homepage of the artist Wilhelm Jaruska!

Wilhelm Jaruska was one of the most important poster artists in Austria between 1953 and 1975. Among other things, he created the subjects for the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964, the Ice Hockey World Championships in Vienna in 1967 or the posters for the Vienna Fair in the 1960s and 1970s. Furthermore, he worked for a long time as a professor at the graphic teaching and research institute in Vienna. In addition to his two main occupation, teaching and the production of advertising graphics, Jaruska created a tremendous work of drawings and watercolors in seventy years. He found his subjects in everyday situations in public spaces: in parks and at the swimming pond, in the undergound and in a pub, on the street and at work in the field or on the construction site.

In 2019, the Widder gallery was entrusted with a first part of Wilhelm Jaruska's paintings by his daughters, who manage his artistic estate. This resulted in the first sales exhibition with an accompanying catalog. A second exhibition project followed in 2020, which was also accompanied by a catalog.
